Some of our work
Projects from 2019 to today, and what the teams said afterwards.

Agentic RAG for emergency planning
IEM helps governments plan for disasters. As a contractor to Presolved, I built agentic retrieval that helps IEM’s planners generate emergency operations plans and improve them draft after draft, grounded in their own planning documents.
The part that mattered most was the eval set. It tells the team when answer quality drifts, before their users do. I wrote up the retrieval pattern, without the client details, on blove.dev.

Faster builds and a faster app for a team growing fast
ClickUp keeps all of a team’s work in one place, and they were growing very quickly. That demands building at scale: shorter build times, less technical debt, better runtime performance.
I worked with their teams and outside contractors on Angular’s Component DevKit and NgRx for state management, and the app got measurably faster.

A grid that stopped buckling under their biggest customers
Runway is a finance platform for modelling a company’s outlook. Their in-house data grid was buckling under the data their largest customers brought.
I moved them to AG Grid and AG Charts and kept the user experience they were known for. The grid got faster; the product did not get uglier.

From Citrix to the web for Santander Consumer USA
Santander Consumer USA services auto loans. The application that ran it was a legacy system delivered over Citrix. They hired me first to analyse it and write the roadmap to the web, working with leadership, architects, engineers, users and agents.
Then they hired me as lead architect for the migration itself. We designed, built, documented and moved users to an Angular application that is cloud ready. The legacy system was sunset.

A review that turned into a two-year rebuild of the lineup grid
SaberSim builds daily fantasy lineups. Users adjust projections and exposures in real time, and the app showed that data in HTML tables with pagination. Layout broke and performance lagged.
Andy asked for an architecture review. The report became a two-year engagement: the grid rebuilt on AG Grid, state management on NgRx, and a performance budget we measured against. Exceptions and regressions dropped.

“LiveLoveApp’s architecture review was invaluable to us. Brian quickly got up to speed on our product and found problems that were impacting our users and making it hard to scale. Afterward, his report gave us a clear plan of attack that took our business needs into consideration. I highly recommend LiveLoveApp’s services.”
Andy Baldacci, CEO of SaberSimData grids, performance, and the first AI features in the product
The Motley Fool ships investing tools to a lot of people at once. I built the data grids those tools run on and tuned the parts that were slow.
Then I led the AI work: putting inference and intelligence inside the web products themselves, with the guardrails a financial publisher needs.

“LiveLoveApp provided excellent UI/UX skills that are not easy to find. They have a true talent not just for developing aesthetic designs, but also logical/functional designs that attract and encourage desired user behaviors.
LiveLoveApp constantly seeks improvement on their designs and communicates extremely well with management. They understand both aspects of design and programming that allow them to bridge communications and develop design proposals that are within technical limitations.
The ability to provide ultra high quality workmanship under pressure, and within limits, is not common. LiveLoveApp does this extremely well. I would highly recommend LiveLoveApp for any user interface and user experience work.”

US Treasury data, segmented and drillable, for banks
Insight Financial Marketing finds marketing opportunities for financial institutions in transaction and behavioural data.
I built the grid that shows anonymised, aggregated US Treasury data to their banking customers: segmentation, drill-ins, and analysis, on AG Grid. The demo is below.

An architecture review, then the refactor with the team
Mosaic is a fintech building a new way to manage money. They asked for an architecture review of their Angular application and NgRx training for the team.
The review found the opportunities. I then worked alongside their developers to refactor the application and improve the architecture, so the training stuck.

Performance bottlenecks found, fixed, and kept fixed
Scopeworker ships apps that have to feel fast. I found the performance bottlenecks, recommended the fixes, and implemented them with their team.
We kept working together after that to keep their products, and their customers, on solid ground.

“The LiveLoveApp team has enabled us to ship highly performant apps faster. They have identified performance bottlenecks, provided effective recommendations, and worked alongside our team to implement solutions. Their knowledge of software systems and architecture is superb. They are professional, friendly, and write beautiful code. We continue to work with them to ensure the success of our products and that of our customers. I highly recommend LiveLoveApp.”

Workshops and talks for the client services teams. I worked closely with the Angular team.
End-to-end testing workshops with open source tools, to tighten their SDLC.
NgRx standards and training, then delivery alongside the team to hit their deadlines.
“Brian Love and his team were awesome to have around. They are all incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and patient. They helped to train my team in NgRx standards and help us to optimize our application to make use of NgRx and all of the features and benefits that it provides.
The developers working with Brian found him to be a great team player who works well within a team and values everyone’s input. Brian not only helped us meet deadlines, but he demonstrated that he knows his subject matter extremely well and is able to explain in a way that is easy to understand.
We could not have delivered an application that was as efficient and as maintainable without Brian’s guidance and leadership on our project. It was a pleasure working with him and would do it again without hesitation if the opportunity came around again.”
Greg Lehmann, Director at FedExWorkshops on AG Grid for their customers, and a partner since.
“The team at LiveLoveApp are industry renowned experts in Enterprise JavaScript that I have come to know through their work. Their understanding of the technical details, mixed with their excellent teaching and coaching style is top notch.”

Aaron Frost, Lead organizer of ng-conf, CEO of HeroDevs“LiveLoveApp has some of the best trainers and experts in NgRx that I’ve worked with! If you’re looking to save money by going right to the source of knowledge instead of having your developers waste weeks trying to find the right solution, LiveLoveApp is the right team to hire.”
Tracy Lee, Founder of This Dot, Google Developer Expert“Working with LiveLoveApp was a fantastic experience! Not only did they identify key areas of improvement for our team in terms of both engineering and organizational best practices, but they also reinforced things that we had been doing well to begin with, which boosted our team’s confidence in our ability to make decisions moving forward. The initial review was quick and efficient, and the report we received was concise, actionable, and clear. I’d recommend LiveLoveApp to any team looking for a fresh and rigorous perspective on their work.”
Kyle Bjordahl, Managing Partner at Lucid Creative“Working at a small development shop, we were eager to get another set of eyes on our Angular application with the hope of getting feedback on our overall application architecture and how well we were following the latest Angular best practices. This is exactly what we got with an architecture review from LiveLoveApp.
The one-on-one interactions with a Google Developer Expert in Angular coupled with a detailed written report that provided prioritized short-term and long-term development suggestions is more than we could have expected or hoped for. There’s really no reason not to go through this exercise, and I’d almost guarantee your application will be in a better state after the review. I highly recommend it!”
Chris Marth, Software Architect at Pink Summit“I’ve spent the past two years working with LiveLoveApp. They’ve helped me establish the core architectural components of my app and website, that is the linchpin of my business, BenchSights. They’ve also advised me along the way on numerous technical and software-related issues. They’ve been an instrumental part of my team and I’ve been extraordinarily impressed with their work and professionalism. Great partners to work with.”
